Welcome to
BSides Cape Town

1. About B-Sides Cape Town

The idea of B-Sides Cape Town was hatched after some discussion over beers in a pub in a far away Eastern Cape university town.

B-Sides Cape Town will attempt to offer a healthy environment where some of Cape Town (and hopefully South African) security professionals, system administrators, network administrators, and anyone with a healthy interest in Information Security can come together for one day to listen to some interesting, if not sometimes slightly offbeat presentations and topics relating to information security. It will offer the opportunity to meet and engage with other people in the field, make connections and share ideas, with the hope of fostering closer co-operation in the information security field.

2. Venue

We have a venue. A big thank you to University of Cape Town for giving us a venue that can host 50 - 60 people. I doubt we will have that many people attending for our first attempt at a B-Sides Cape Town. Map can be found here
3. CFP and Schedule

CFP can be found here and the schedule here.

4. Date

The first Saturday (3rd) in December (2011).

5. Contact / Volunteers etc

I want to give a big thanks for Sasha Zeisberger for the nifty logo! If you want to volunteer, please drop me a line at pblaauw at i-sec dot co dot za. I already have some volunteers (Sam, Rosh etc). Big thanks to those people!
